Javier Bardem says he’d work with Woody Allen again “tomorrow”

A number of actors have disavowed Woody Allen in the wake of resurfaced allegations that the filmmaker sexually assaulted his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow. Several of them, including Rebecca HallTimothée ChalametSelena Gomez, and Griffin Newman starred in his latest movie, A Rainy Day in New York, which has reportedly been shelved by Amazon. There is one actor, however, who would work with Allen again in a heartbeat: Vicky Cristina Barcelona star Javier Bardem.

Variety reports that during a Monday masterclass at France’s Lumière Film Festival, Bardem called Allen “a genius,” saying he’d “work with him tomorrow,” despite the allegations. “Today, 11 years later, it is the same accusation,” Bardem said, pointing out that Allen has not been found guilty of any crime. “Public accusations are very dangerous. If some day there is a trial and it’s proven to be true, I would change my opinion, but at this moment, nothing has changed.”

The European audience applauded Bardem’s remarks, which makes sense considering that the filmmaker has remained popular in Europe as his star has faded in the States.

Though Allen considers himself the “poster boy” for the #MeToo movement, the resurfaced allegations have damaged more than his relationships with a number of actors. In additon to shelving A Rainy Day in New York, Amazon is said to be exploring means to cancel its existing content deal with Allen.

Black Mirror season 5 to include choose-your-own adventure episode

Netflix’s hit sci-fi anthology series Black Mirror is testing the limits of technology once again — by letting viewers choose the outcome of an upcoming episode.

According to Bloomberg, the Emmy-winning Charlie Brooker series is trying something different for its fifth season: a choose-your-own-adventure style episode.

This wouldn’t be the first time Netflix has toyed with the idea of interactive stories on their streaming content. Their Puss in Boots cartoon, for instance, has a few interactive elements where you can decide what moves the titular feline will do next. However, this is the first time that Netflix will try it for a live-action program, and Black Mirror’s hefty critical pedigree makes this move a big risk for the streaming giant.

Netflix is also slated to develop “a slate of specials” that toy with the same interactive model in the near future, evincing a desire to branch out into new territory. While interactive video has had its share of false starts (see the full-motion video game craze in the mid-90s), Netflix’s track record with disrupting the way we watch television is already pretty strong. If anyone can pull this off, it’s the company that made ‘binge-watching’ a household name.

Black Mirror season five is slated to premiere this December.

Nas responds to Kelis’ abuse allegations: “Even our son wonders why you treat me the way you do?”

Back in April, Kelis came forward and and stated she experienced “a lot of mental and physical abuse” during her four-year marriage with rapper Nas, which she characterized as “really dark” with “a lot of drinking” that led to “bruises all over her body.”

Now, Nas has responded to those allegations in an extensive series of Instagram posts that detail a fraught relationship with his ex-wife and a lengthy, ongoing custody battle with their son, Knight. “This is the first and last time I’m addressing this,” he insists.

Through seven emotional posts, Nas rallies against what he calls “fictitious” allegations, arguing that, “This is the type of antics that deceive people and people mistakenly call it strong.” From there, he recalls his own depression over his mother’s death, confesses to his own failings in their marriage, and even describes an incident from earlier this year in which Kelis attacked him in front of their son:

“After 10 years of keeping my silence during a decade of dealing with very hostile behavior and verbal abuse and even your stepfather holding you back from one of your physical violent Attacks on me right outside your house THIS YEAR while trying to pick up our son while he watched from the window, it was my weekend and you denied me that because your parents were in town. I just went home. This has been my life for my son’s entire life. Even our son wonders why you treat me the way you do?”

Part of that silence has extended to their own personnel as he writes, “Luckily for you our assistants all signed NDA’s or you would have a list of men and women who would happily talk about how verbally abusive and evil you are.”

Ultimately, he insists that, “Everything with her is a plot and a scheme. Has no merit. No foundation,” he writes. “I didn’t wanna speak up because i have real respect for our women. And definitely my son. I do not beat women. I did not beat up my ex wife. Stop. You got beat up in court.”

Neil Young and Daryl Hannah probably got married over the weekend

Neil Young and Daryl Hannah had love to burn over the weekend.

According to UK magazine, Mirror, the longtime couple reportedly got hitched in a small ceremony with close friends on Saturday in Atascadero, California, which followed an earlier ceremony off the Sun Juan islands aboard Young’s yacht.

“Congrats N & D,” the administrator to Young’s blog wrote, prompting one fan to ask if it was legit, to which the site replied, “Several attendees at (the) reception yesterday in central CA area have confirmed. Described as a ‘shindig.’”

Young’s guitarist Mark Miller seemingly confirmed the news on Facebook, writing: “Congratulations to Daryl Hannah and Neil Young on their wedding today,” even later adding: “I only knew about it because one of my friends attended the ceremony in Atascadero and announced it on his page.”

If that weren’t enough, Hannah herself posted the following via Instagram:

A little history: Young and Hannah have been dating since 2014, around the time that the great bard filed for divorce from Pegi Young, his wife of 36 years. Earlier this year, Hannah directed Young in the Netflix film, Paradox.

Burial and Kode9 announce 74-minute Fabriclive mix

Earlier this year, Burial teamed up with The Bug for a collaborative project, which followed a 2017 that saw releases like “Rodent”, the surprise Subtemple EP, and the “Pre Dawn”/”Indoors” 12-inch. Now, the dubstep legend has teamed with another UK producer in Kode9, with whom he’s releasing the 100th and final installment of the Fabric nightclub’s FABRICLIVE mix series.

The 74-minute mix is due out on September 28th, and only then will its tracklist be released. The mix will be available digitally and on CD, though you can also purchase a copy on vinyl, which features the unmixed tracks across four plates. Pre-orders are available here.

Pitchfork reports that, though the FABRICLIVE series is coming to an end, fabric says “a new era of mixes will start next year after FABRICLIVE 100 is released in October.”

See a rare photo of Burial above, as well as the cover art for the mix down below.
